What to Expect in Your Free Consultation

Most of the people we work with have never needed an attorney before, so they don’t know what to expect when they call for a free consultation. The point of this initial meeting is two-fold: You will have time to get to know us and ask questions about your claim. Meanwhile, we will assess your case and gather the details that we will need to get started. Ultimately, we will work together to develop a plan for moving forward.

When you meet with us for the first time, you can expect that we will:

  • Listen to your story. We want to hear about how you were injured and what your life has been like since then. We will talk about what you remember about the accident and the treatment plan for your injuries.
  • Review any evidence you have gathered. This includes photos of the scene or your injuries, names and contact information for witnesses, accident reports, medical records and expenses, paperwork from insurance companies, etc.
  • Identify potentially liable parties. Based on our discussion, we will outline all the possible sources of compensation our firm will explore.
  • Discuss the damages you have suffered. This includes not only medical expenses but time missed from work, damage to your property (such as in a car accident), pain and suffering, and loss of enjoyment of life. As we move forward with your claim, we may hire experts to help us estimate future anticipated losses.
  • Explain what to expect moving forward. We will walk you through the claims process, from start to finish. We often find that people who understand the process experience less anxiety as their case progresses because they are mentally prepared. Of course, we are always here to answer any questions or talk about any concerns that come up along the way.

By the end of your free consultation, you should feel empowered to make an educated decision about how you want to proceed with your case.
